늪거북과(―科 Emydidae)의 작은 담수성 거북.

캐나다 남부에서 미국 중남부지역에 걸쳐 서식한다. 점박이거북의 갑길이는 10㎝ 정도이다. 등껍질은 갈색 바탕에 둥글고 밝은 노란색이나 오렌지색의 점들이 있으며 매끄럽고, 배껍질은 검은색 바탕에 노란색이나 오렌지색의 점들이 있다. 점박이거북은 움직임이 느린 파충류이다. 이들은 연못이나 습지 또는 도랑 같은 얕은 물에 살며 때때로 무리를 지어 햇볕을 쬔다.
