The graceful pitta (Erythropitta venusta) is a bird species in the family Pittidae. It is native to the highlands of Sumatra, Indonesia, where it inhabits dense, moist woods with a thick understory of plants. The graceful pitta is a petite bird that measures approximately 18 cm in length. Its black coloring is enhanced with reddish undertones, and the bottom of its wings have vivid blue stripes running down them. The lower breast and abdomen are a dull crimson. The upper chest is dark brown with a purple hue. The legs can appear to be either a purple-blue or a pale blue, and its iris is a dark brown color. The bill is black. The extended tail has reddish-black hues. Males and females are similar in appearance .

The bird is about 17 cm long and has a black head with a bright blue stripe at the eyebrows and a red cap. The breast is dark blue at the top, and carmine red beneath. The back and wings are bright blue. Juvenile pittas have a mostly brown color. The bird’s diet consists mainly of insects such as ants, wood grubs, cockroaches, and beetles.

The blue-headed pitta (Hydrornis baudii) is a bird species in the family Pittidae. It is endemic to the island of Borneo, where it occurs in Brunei, Kalimantan (Indonesia), Sarawak and Sabah (Malaysia). The blue-headed pitta is a medium-sized pitta, at 17 cm in length. The plumage of the male is very brightly coloured, with a bright blue crown, black cheeks, white throat, chestnut red back, violet blue tail and belly, and black wings marked with white. The colours of the female are more subdued, with a buff coloured back and head and blue only being found on the tail .
