The spectral bat (Vampyrum spectrum), also known as the false vampire bat, Linnaeus's false vampire bat or the spectral vampire bat, is a bat species of the family Phyllostomidae. Spectral bats are found in southern Mexico to Peru and Ecuador to central and northern Brazil, Suriname, Guyana, and the island of Trinidad.
