Blue Jay, Cyanocitta cristata
2. Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) ____________________________________
"Jays are here common, and very mischievous, in devouring our
Fruit, and spoiling more than they eat. They are abundantly more
beautiful, and finer feather'd than those in Europe."
- John Lawson
I'm liking these guys now ... I used to have too many up north.
They'd scare all the birds away ... but there are only a few
here, so they don't monopolize my feeders ... I find it
wonderfully funny to see a young cardinal, who doesn't know yet
he's low man on the totem pole where blue jays are concerned,
stand toe to toe with them ... and win ... the blue jay always
looks quite surprised ...
