Indian Mahuts (masters of domestic animals) are pictured taking care of domestic elephants at the Garumara Wildlife Sanctuary, some 70 km from Indian city of Siliguri on Sunday, 22 January, 2006. Domestic elephants in this wildlife santuary are used for elephant safaris as well as for patrolling in the sanctuary area by the forest guards to protect animals from the poachers. The Mahuts earn an average of 2 euros per day. EPA/STRINGER
