마름넙치 (Scophthalmus rhombus) 넙치과의 바다밑층물고기(Scophthalmus rhombus). 유럽서부연해로부터 마로끄까지의 아프리카연해에 퍼져 있다. 몸길이는 보통 30~40㎝, 큰것은 120㎝이다. 몸은 닭알모양이며 옆으로 납작하다. 입은 크고 잔 이발들이 있다. 몸은 잔 빗살비늘로 덮여 있다. 두눈은 왼쪽에 몰려 있다. 눈있는쪽은 여러가지 색을 띠는데 누런 밤색 또는 재빛 풀색이며 검푸른색의 반점무뉘와 흰무뉘들이 있다. 눈없는 쪽은 흰색 또는 연한 누런색이다. 물깊이 40~70m 되는 곳의 모래바닥 혹은 모래감탕바닥에서 산다. 3~8월에 6~20m의 얕은 곳에서 알낳이를 한다. 주로 작은 물고기, 갑각류, 연체동물들을 잡아 먹는다. 밑층뜨랄과 주낙으로 잡는다. 고기는 맛이 있으며 생선으로 리용한다.
