This bird is also a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, not a yellow-throated
warbler, which is a different species altogether.

◈ 물리학으로 본 새의 노래
카나리아와 같은 새들이 많은 주파수와 길이를 가진 노래를 하는 데는 복잡한 신경 구조가 필요할 것이라는 추측이 물리학자들에 의해 깨졌다.
아르헨티나와 미국의 공동 연구진은 새의 발성기관과 신경체계를 비선형 시스템으로 취급하고, 이를 근간으로 새들의 노래를 연구한 결과, 새들의 노래가 단순한 신경구조와 과정에 의해 발생하는 것으로 나타났다고 밝혔다.
새들이 노래할 때 HVc라고 부르는 뇌 안의 특정 영역이 활동하는데 이것은 RA 영역으로 알려진 다른 부분에 있는 신경을 자극하여 폐나 성대의 근육을 조절하는 신경단위를 자극한다. 이와 관련 연구진들은 폐를 통과해가는 공기의 흐름을 조절하는 새의 공기 주머니 안의 압력이 어떻게 진동하는지에 대한 실험적 관측을 통해 새의 노래가 공기주머니와 신경계 사이의 상호작용으로 단순히 발생한 것이라는 것을 밝혔다. (출처 : 한국과학기술정보연구원)
