More than 30,000 cocoons of butterflies of 30 different species are exported every month from Costa Rica by U.S. citizen Joris Brinkerhoff who specialises in the breeding and exporting of butterflies to Europe, Asia, Africa, Canada and the United States. The cocoons range in price from $2 to $5 each.
