Foreign visitors take photographs of one of the "Taiping Four" lowland gorillas in an indoor enclosure at the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa in Pretoria, April 13, 2005. According to the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), the gorillas were illegally captured and sent to Taiping Zoo in Malaysia in 2002 and transferred to a zoo in Pretoria in April 2004. The Government of Cameroon has made two official requests to South Africa for the return of the gorillas and South Africa's Ministry of Environmental Affairs and Tourism indicated in December 2004 that it would return the gorillas within six months, but a technical committee has yet to be convened despite calling for the formation of a committee to study the gorillas' plight, IFAW said.
