The rutting call ??? which sounds like a squeak toy -- is primarily designed to attract the attentions of a female during the fall breeding season.

In their native habitat in Asia, sika deer, which can weigh nearly 100 pounds, are important prey species for tigers. They have also been introduced into the U.S. as a game species.
