Manny the Japanese Macaque [LiveScience 2006-11-06] Manny, a male “snow monkey” or Japanese macaque, born, May 22nd, 2001 at the Central Park Zoo.
Manny lives with four little sisters, along with his dad and biological and adoptive mother. He is known as an expert “tag” player with his siblings.
In the wild, snow monkeys are the northernmost-occurring monkeys in the world, residing in Japan at latitudes up to 41 degrees north. They keep warm during the winter months with their thick coats and occasional submersion in hot springs; at the Central Park Zoo, a hot tub does the job.
