Testing my new camera + new film - colorful geese in Kruezen Animal park

Hi again,

finally, the weather last weekend has been adequate to have a short
visit at Kruezen animal park, a small animal park near where I live, and
give my new Canon EOS 50 and Canon 100-300 lens a try. Moreover, I
wanted to test different brands of film - Agfa HDC 200, Kodak Gold 400,
Fuji Superia 400 and the new Konica Centuria 400. From earlier scans, I
have made the experience that Konica films work excellently with the
Nikon Coolscan, and the Centuria was the first film to be developed
today.

I must say that the Centuria 400 really does a superb job in the
scanner. I had a shot at these colorful birds in the evening sun,
opposite light, f at about 250 mm, resulting in about 1/250 of shutter
time. It is amazing how little post-scan correction was needed,
especially in comparison to earlier pictures taken with Kodak and Agfa.
Moreover, the grain seems so be very fine and smooth for a 400?
emulsion. I am planning to settle down to a single brand of film for
future animal photography, and the Konica has the potential to be a very
favourite of mine.

Many more to come (hopefully),

Greetings from Germany -

Ralf

In eastern Asia, the original domesticated geese are derived from the Swan Goose Anser cygnoides; these are now known as Chinese geese.
