Description
And now, for something different - Butterflies! - These won't be on my web page

Hi group,

This year, the colleagues of the institute I work at and me spent our
annual trip in Friedrichsruh Butterfly Garden, close to where I live.
This location has a big glass house with tropical heat and humidity, and
all sorts of tropical butterflies (and some birds) inside. I hadn't made
in-house photos before with my Canon EOS 50, so I decided to take and
with me and try to shoot some butterflies. Moreover, I chose to set my
camera to "idiot mode", meaning literally everything is done
automatically, including the use of flash when needed. I did not use a
macro lens but the 100-300 I always have with me, mostly at 300, because
the butterflies turned out not to be fond of me approaching closer.
Film, as usual, was Konica Centuria 400 color negative.

However, I won't put these pictures on my web page. Me photographing
insects is an exception from the rule. Of course, if you want a bigger
version of the butterfly scans to follow, you can get it from me. I just
won't put an "insects" category on my page because my interests are
mainly focused on vertebrates.

BTW: Don't ask me for the name of a specific butterfly posted here.
Stupidly enough, the tables with all the species were outside the glass
house where I couldn't go every minute or so because my camera would
cover with moisture each time I'd re-enter. So it's just "butterfly" -
if anyone could contribute some identification, I'd certainly appreciate it.

Greetings from Germany -

Ralf
