How to shoot hummers:
1) Buy a digital video camera
2) Put it on a tripod in front of the window feeder
3) Transfer appropriate frames to the computer.

Note to self: Wash hummingbird spit off window before filming.

Note to others: I have a bunch more of these, and can probably get better
quality if you want. These pics are public domain: Do with them whatever you
like. I have no idea what species these are, except they live in San Diego.

They appear to be female Anna's hummers. BTW, you don't
need the red-dyed liquid, just mix 1 part sugar with 4 parts
boiling water (let cool, of course).

The Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna) is a medium-sized hummingbird.

These birds are glossy green on the back and grey below with green flanks. Their bill is long, straight and slender. The adult male has a glossy red crown and throat and a dark tail. Anna's is the only hummingbird species with a red crown. Females and juveniles have a green crown, a grey throat with some red marking, and a dark tail with white tips.
