Peucetia viridans, or the green lynx spider, is a large, bright green spider found in the southern U.S., Mexico, Central America, and the West Indies. It is a diurnal sit-and-wait hunter that pounces on its prey rather than using a web. Key features include its transparent green body, red spots or markings, long legs with black spines, and a pointed abdomen. Females are larger than males and guard their egg sacs, which contain bright orange eggs.
