Description
Another old print scanned - Lionesses at Hagenbeck Zoo - and a remark on photo prints

Hi again,

I took this shot, IIRC, about 10 years ago. These two beauties were
having a sunbath at Hagenbeck Zoo, Hamburg, Germany.

BTW, there is something interesting I noticed about the paper
photographic prints are made of - some shots come out very greenish in
the scan. Some sorts of paper are known to show a greenish luminescence
when irradiated with ultraviolet light, and the scanner lamps usually
have a high percentage of ultraviolet rays. My guess is that the
luminescence of these sorts of paper brings the greenish touch to the
scans - it seems to affect older prints rather than newer ones, and I
have never seen that on the paper used for books or magazines - just
some sorts of photo prints. Anyone who has made the same experience with
some sorts of paper and is able to acknowledge (or contradict) to my
interpretation of that effect?

Greetings from Germany -

Ralf
