More lions. These are all in the wild. A few lazing about,
a few hunting, a few hunting for a good spot to laze about.
Many of these shots were just a dozen feet from the truck.
We actually got yelled at not to stick our heads out the window
taking #488.
#481 is a pride of lionesses guarding their kill,
which looked like a warthog, but was rather
difficult to identify for sure.
#504 and #505 were just uphill from the
yawning hippos posted last week. Not that
you can tell. :-)
#508 is a sleeping lion. We woke him up, because we
had a goat in the trunk that was going to be dinner.
(One of us bought it from the Masai villiage we
visited.) When the goat bleated, the lion looked
around like "where'd *that* come from?"
(See #550 tomorrow.)
Kenya and Tanzania, Summer 2000.
Scanned from 6x4 prints of 35mm film
with a not-too-good scanner.
Released to the Public Domain,
but I would appriciate hearing about
commercial use of the photos.
