Back Yard Birds -- male northern cardinal -- cardinal010199.jpg Here's the first back yard bird of 1999... This cardinal was a regular in
my yard during the summer, but disappeared several months ago. I had
thought he was dead or had moved on to a new territory, but this morning he
showed up in the 12 degree (F) cold to grab some peanuts in the shell from
the bluejays (the only cardinal I've even know who ate peanuts in the
shell.)
