Ptarmigan of some sort - not sure of species (I'm not exactly a
ptarmigan expert ;-). Ptarmigan have those feathered feet.

Well, I don't have my Peterson's guide in front of me, but I'm going to
guess that it's a ptarmigan. Maybe a rock ptarmigan (sp?).

I also think that these are Sharp-tailed Grouse. They have
the white spots on dark wings, which is a field mark of the
Sharptailed, where the Rock Ptarmigan have white wings in
all three plumages. The face pattern and the spotted breast
are also that of Sharp-tailed Grouse.
