Common Musk Turtle or Stinkpot (Sternotherus odoratus) is a species of small turtle native to southeastern Canada and most of the eastern half of the United States, named after their ability to release a foul musky odor to deter predation. They are sometimes bred specifically to be kept as pets.

흙탕거북과(―科 Kinosternidae) 냄새거북속(─屬 Sternotherus)에 속하는 한 파충류.

작은 담수성 거북으로 2~3종(種)이 있다. 냄새거북이란 말은 방해받을 때 강한 사향냄새를 내는 데서 붙은 이름이다. 북아메리카 동부지역의 잔잔한 물 속에 서식하는 수생동물로 육지에는 거의 올라오지 않는다. 낚시 미끼에 잘 덤비며, 어부에게 잡히는 경우가 종종 있다. 외형과 호전적인 기질이 작은늑대거북류와 비슷하다. 복갑(腹甲)이 작고 턱에 육질로 된 작은 수염이 있는 것이 특징이다. 배갑(背甲)은 타원형이고 옅은 색이 흐릿하며, 몸길이는 보통 8~13㎝ 정도이다. 가장 흔한 종인 냄새거북(Sternotherus odoratus)은 머리 양쪽에 2개의 노란 줄이 있다. 이 종은 미국의 동북부지역과 남부지역에 사는 유일한 냄새거북류이다. ...
