The snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus), also known as the polar owl, the white owl and the Arctic owl, is a large, white owl of the true owl family. Snowy owls are native to the Arctic regions of both North America and the Palearctic, breeding mostly on the tundra. Order: Strigiformes > Family: Strigidae > Genus: Bubo > Species: Bubo scandiacus
3. Chouette de l'Oural = Ural owl / Strix uralensis
The Ural owl (Strix uralensis) is a large nocturnal owl. It is a member of the true owl family, Strigidae. This forest owl is typical associated with the vast taiga forest in Eurosiberia. Ural owls tend to occur in mature but not too dense primary forest, which can variously be in coniferous, mixed or deciduous areas. Order: Strigiformes > Family: Strigidae > Genus: Strix > Species: Strix uralensis
4. Chouette Caparacoch = boreal owl / Aegolius funereus
The boreal owl or Tengmalm's owl (Aegolius funereus) is a small owl in the "true owl" family Strigidae. It is known as the boreal owl in North America and as Tengmalm's owl in Europe after Swedish naturalist Peter Gustaf Tengmalm or, more rarely, Richardson's owl after Sir John Richardson. Due to the boreal owl's shyness and evasive reaction to human activities, nocturnal habits and preferred inaccessible taiga forest habitat, it is rarely seen by humans. Order: Strigiformes > Family: Strigidae > Genus: Aegolius > Species: Aegolius funereus
