The African blue flycatcher is prized by birders for its striking, iridescent plumage and distinctive notched tail, which helps distinguish it from other flycatcher species in its forest habitat. Its rounded wings are a key adaptation for the agile, short-burst flights it uses to catch insects within the dense understory of tropical Africa.
