Worker honeybees visit a great variety of plants when foraging for nectar and pollen to take back to the hive. Nectar is the bees' main source of carbohydrate and water, and pollen is their only source of protein. Honeybees eat the pollen and convert the nectar into honey on which they also feed. They store any excess honey in the hive.
