The Tana River mangabey is a medium-sized monkey with a yellow-brown coat, dark grey face and a prominent crest of fur on its head. Its most distinctive features are the white eyelids that contrast with its dark face and a long, semi-prehensile tail. They are diurnal, mostly terrestrial, and have powerful jaws and teeth adapted for eating hard nuts and seeds.
