The Indian gerbil is a member of the family Muridae, which comprises mice and rats. Known scientifically as Tatera indica, this species is found primarily in the dry and semi-arid regions of India, Pakistan and some parts of Bangladesh. As a small rodent, it has adapted remarkably to its environment, exhibiting behaviours that ensure its survival despite challenging conditions. It is often recognized for its robust body and long, tufted tail which aids in balance and agility.
