The clear sundial (Architectonica perspectiva) is named for the unique shape and pattern of its shell; the vividly contrasting circles of light and dark are thought to recall a sundial. Beneath the shell, its body carries the same striated pattern. It lives on sandy seafloors and is endangered in some parts of the world due to habitat loss.
