The Hubbs’ octopus is a mid-sized to large octopus that reach a maximum length of 1.02 m (3 feet 6 inches), and 3.7 kg (8 lbs 2 oz) in weight. Its arms are approximately three times the length of the web. It has a mottled appearance and are usually tan or light brown with an irregular pattern of darker lines. It has the ability to change colours and can be grey, greenish or reddish. Its skin is fairly smooth in texture and may display numerous papillae.
