Description | Himalayan tahr (Hemitragus jemlahicus)
The Himalayan tahr haunts rocky, wooded slopes in the Himalayas. Agile and sure-footed, with a dense, warm coat, it is well equipped for the mountain environment. Male Himalayan tahrs tend to stay on the forested slopes the year round, but the females move up to the mountain pastures in summer, where they gather in groups of several animals. They sometimes forage in company with Himalayan monals. | |
