Mule deer, long-eared deer and a game animal that inhabits W North America from Alaska to Mexico. It is red-brown with a black-tipped white tail; the male bears antlers. It is generally solitary, but often gathers in herds in winter. Height: to 1.1m at the shoulder. Family Cervidae; species Odocoileus hemionus.
