African hunting dog, wild dog found in Africa, where it hunts in packs preying on small mammals. Unlike most dogs it has only four toes on each foot. Its head is flat with a short muzzle and large ears; the coat is yellow, black and white. Height: approx. 60cm at the shoulder. Family Canidae; species Lycaon pictus.
