European kingfisher, common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis ispida) Description
English: Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is a small but one of Europe's most beautiful birds. It dwells humid areas with access to water, near ponds, rivers, etc, where it gains its nourishment. Unfortunately, kingfisher is an endangered species due to its very high sensitivity to environmental changes. My picture shows a representative of this species sitting on a branch with lichen focusing on its hunt. Through this work, I would like to draw attention to these extraordinary but increasingly rare birds.

It is resident in much of its range, but migrates from areas where rivers freeze in winter.
