Chaetodontoplus melanosoma, common names black-velvet angelfish, brown angelfish, and phantom angelfish, is a species of marine fish in the family Pomacanthidae. This species is lives only in central Indonesian waters such as those of western Java, Bali, Komodo, Flores, Sulawesi, and northeastern Kalimantan. It is also found in Malaysia (Sabah) and in the Philippines (Sulu Archipelago, Cebu, and southern Luzon).
