Androctonus amoreuxi is the largest representative of the genus Androctonus and the largest ever North African scorpion. The scorpion belongs to the family Buthidae. Androctonus amoreuxi mainly inhabits deserts of Africa (Algeria, Burkina Faso, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Senegal, Sudan) and Asia (Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia). It can easily be mistaken for yellow fattail scorpions (Androctonus australis). Order: Scorpiones, Family: Buthidae, Genus: Androctonus, Species: Androctonus amoreuxi (Audouin,1826).
