The African armoured searobin (Peristedion cataphractum) is a marine bony fish of armored searobin family. It is spread all over the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean from the Bay of Biscay to Senegal. It lives on soft sandy or muddy bottoms from 50 to 500 (rarely up to over 800) meters deep. Order: Perciformes, Family: Peristediidae, Genus: Peristedion, Species: Peristedion cataphractum Linnaeus, 1758.
