The Galapagos short-eared owl (Asio flammeus galapagoensis) is a subspecies of the short-eared owl (Asio flammeus), a bird belonging to the family of owls (Strigidae) that inhabits, seasonally with other subspecies, in North America, Europe, North Africa and Siberia where it nests, and in South America, southern China, Southeast Asia and India, where it winter. This particular subspecies is endemic to the archipelago of the Galapagos Islands, located in the Pacific Ocean. Order: Strigiformes, Family: Strigidae, Subfamily: Asioninae, Species: Asio flammeus (Pontoppidan, 1763), Synonyms: Asio accipitrinus, Subspecies: A. f. galapagoensis Gould, 1837
