| I enjoyed reading your article on Hamtramck newspaper publishing history. Especially interesting was your reference to ethnic newspapers and the comment that little is known of the Citizens Weekly, a Polish newspaper published in the 20s and 30s. My grandfather, Louis Zubel and his partner purchased the Citizens Weekly (Tygodnik Obywatelski) from John J. Barc in the 20s and published it until 1932. It was an 8-page bilingual weekly, with the first 4 pages in English and the last 4 in Polish. My father, Stanley Zubel, age 88 years, lives in Ann Arbor. He worked in the print shop and has a lot of historical information that might be of interest to you. Let me know if you wish to speak with him. |
