The Panamanian golden toad or Panamanian golden frog (Atelopus zeteki) is an endangered toad endemic to Panama. It measures 2 to 5 centimeters and inhabits tropical forest regions, particularly on mountains. Populations of amphibians, including the golden toad, suffered major declines possibly due to Chytridiomycosis, an infectious fungal infection. Additional factors, such as habitat loss and pollution may have also played a role.
The Panamanian golden toad has appeared on Panamanian lottery tickets, and is considered by some a national symbol in Panama.
