From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Blue-cheeked Amazon, Amazona dufresniana, is also known as Blue-cheeked Parrot or Dufresne's Amazon. It is a parrot found in northeast South America from Venezuela through French Guiana and possibly in northern Brazil.
It is about 34 cm. Its coloring is mostly green, with blue cheeks from around the eye to the neck (less on young), a yellow-orange wing patch, a yellowish crown, and orange lores {the region between the eye and bill on the side of a bird's head).
It lives in rain and cloud forest and savanna woodlands up to 1700m.
The binomial of this species commemorates the French zoologist Louis Dufresne.
