18. White Breasted Nuthatch ___________________________________________

No story about this little fellow but do have a story about his
'cousin', the red-breasted nuthatch.

Several years ago I had a red-breasted nuthatch visit the feeder
... called him Hood ... every day, from morning till night, that
whole fall and winter, he would fly to the feeder, get one
sunflower seed, then fly into the large maritime oak in the front
yard and pound it into the bark of the tree.

Thought for sure we'd have sunflowers sprouting from that tree,
come spring.
