별코두더지 [star-nosed mole] 식충목(食蟲目) 두더지과의 포유류. 학명 Condylura cristata 분류 식충목(食蟲目) 두더지과 분포지역 캐나다 남동부, 미국 동부 서식장소 습지(濕地) 크기 몸길이 11.8∼13cm, 꼬리길이 6.5∼8.4cm 몸길이 11.8∼13cm, 꼬리길이 6.5∼8.4cm이다. 보통 두더지와 비슷하지만 꼬리가 길고 주둥이 끝에 22개의 육질돌기가 원반(圓盤) 모양으로 나란히 있다. 눈은 작고 귓바퀴가 있다. 꼬리는 여름에는 가늘지만 겨울에는 굵어진다. 몸털은 조밀(稠密)하고 거칠다. 몸 윗면은 흑다색 또는 흑색이고, 몸 아랫면은 다소 엷다. 습지(濕地)에 살며 밤낮으로 활동한다. 여러 마리가 터널을 같이 쓰고 있다. 터널의 출입구는 수면 밑에 열려 있으며 헤엄을 잘 친다. 한배에 2∼7마리의 새끼를 낳으며 4월 중순~7월에 출산한다. 캐나다 남동부와 미국 동부에 분포한다.
