Tailed Frog, Ascaphus truei, NW USA. That's not a tail,
boys & girls. Hint - this one's a male. They live in
fast mountain streams, so internal fertalization keeps
the spawn (sperm) from washing away uselessly. No other
frog in the world has this special feature. Their
tadpoles have sucker mouths that keep them anchored
to rocks in the swift water.
Usually, these frogs are tan or brown.
