The Eastern Red Bat (Lasiurus borealis) is a species of microbat in the family Vespertilionidae. They are widespread across eastern North America, with additional records in Bermuda 1. Eastern Red Bats have small, rounded ears and long and silky fur that can be red to a golden brown. They have white shoulder patches and their fur has a white tip that gives it a frosted look. The Eastern Red Bat is most closely related to other red bats, with which they form a monophyly. The average weight of an Eastern Red Bat is between 7 and 13 grams.
