Meet Ellie My sister's 11 year old Airedale, Honey died a couple of months ago, and she
was pretty devastated, as she had also not long released to the wild, her
four orphan joeys, which she had hand reared. She was left with one
broken-legged chicken. It was a bit of a shock going from six pets to one in
a few weeks. She trialled a Lakeland Terrier, which had come up for
re-homing, but it was a no go, as it was obsessed with getting the chicken,
and the family had agreed that the next dog had to tolerate small animals,
as there will be more orphan joeys next season, and sometimes rabbits etc.
This little dog appeared on the refuge website on Thursday, and they picked
her up Friday, and after a couple of tries at the chicken, she responded to
stern words, and now leaves it alone. She also learnt to get off beds and
couches after being told a couple of times. She is obviously very happy to
obey orders, and seems to be settling in nicely despite initially being wary
of the men of the house. So meet Ellie, 7 months old, mixed breed cutie,
and I am sure I will be able to post a few more pics in the future....
