distance for a portrait shot.

BTW, if you go to a zoo where animal food is being sold, *never ever*
buy that if you want to get decent photos. The animals have radar
sensors which can detect visitors carrying food from miles away, and
they will come so close that you cannot stick the camera lens through
the enclosure wire meshes for a full body shot - deer are particularly
good at that. Feed the animals when you're out of film or when the light
is fading - they'll love you for it. Try to feed and take pictures at
the same time and you'll spell a curse on the damn beasts :-)
