Description
The Beast is a 1996 made for TV movie starring William Petersen, Karen Sillas and Charles Martin Smith. The movie is based on the 1991 novel Beast by Jaws author Peter Benchley. The film is about a giant squid that attacks and kills several people when its food supply becomes scarce and its offspring is killed. It was filmed primarily in New South Wales, Australia. Mysterious things happen at the coast of Graves Point: An empty boat lies at the shore, divers vanish. The sea biologist Dr. Talley thinks he knows the solution of the mystery: In the depth there is a gigantic squid. Fishing and jobs are becoming scarce in a small seaport community when tragedy strikes a young couple disappear into the sea and nothing is left but a large claw stuck in their raft. A marine expert identifies it as belonging to an extremely rare giant squid and the hunt is on.
